In December 2013, Beauty For Ashes hosted its first annual city-wide youth conference, entitled ALIVE+FREED. The three-day event featured a wide range of speakers, Christian national celebrities and performers, including Burundian drummers, hip hop dancers, gospel singers, rappers, worship bands, spoken word poets, comedians, actors and many more. Though a humble beginning, the event had a notable impact on those in attendance in person and via live web stream, as evidenced by their social media engagement and personal testimonies.
